10 PEER RESONSES DUE IN 16 HOURS

Post Written Assignment Summative Template Part 1< Guided Response: You will choose one peer to respond to in this forum. Please choose a peer that has not had the benefit of other peer’s feedback. This way everyone will have the advantage of additional comments. Share your thoughts with your peer using the following questions as a guide: · What do you think about the workshop itself? Based on the workshop description what do you think the popularity will be? Will it be engaging? What could your classmate add to the description to entice more clients to attend the workshop? · If you were your peer’s supervisor, what suggestions would you make to ensure that the workshop runs smoothly? Is there anything you would change, add, or delete? · Would you attend the workshop? Why or why not? Jennifer’s post: The degree you are seeking- Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education  The position at the Ashford Multigenerational Center that you have accepted- assistant teacher  Why you chose the topic of your workshop- Conscious Discipline is used at the campus I work at now and is effective.  Evelyn’s post: · The degree you are seeking- Bachelor in Arts in Early Childhood Education · The position at the Ashford Multigenerational Center that you have accepted - Teacher Assistant · Why you chose the topic of your workshop- The Topic I use was Understanding and Dealing with Challenging Behavior because as a parent and teacher we deal with challenging behaviors all the time. It is hard to deal with this kinds of behaviors and most of the time we don't know how to deal with them. I feel this workshop would benefit parents and teachers who deal with this kinds of challenging behaviors.  Ethical Scenarios Guided Response: Review several of your peers’ responses. Respond to at least two of your peers by addressing the following: · Choose one of your program’s professional standards that is applicable to each scenario. · List the professional standard in your response. · Provide a possible solution to your peer’s posted scenario, and include enough details, so it is clear. JENNIFER’S POST: List the title of your scenario- BAECE- male child playing in home living center, upset father who does not want him playing with dolls and dress up. Copy and paste the specific professional standard that will help you solve this ethical dilemma- NAEYC standard 2- curriculum:  "Children are given opportunities to learn and develop through exploration and play, and teachers have opportunities to work with individual children and small groups on specific skills.  Materials and equipment spark children’s interest and encourage them to experiment and learn.  Activities are designed to help children get better at reasoning, solving problems, getting along with others, using language, and developing other skills." (NAEYC)  Respond to the following question: Why did you choose the standard you did?- I chose this standard because it seemed like the best for for the scenario. I feel it would really counter and explain some of the things the father was feeling.  Describe the steps you would take to solve this problem.- I would share the standards with the father, and try and be as kind, and respectful as I can. This may be a subject that is sensitive for him. Create an ethical scenario of your own that pertains to your field of study for your peers to solve- A lead teacher is often placing a heavy workload on you, the assistant. She is leaving many of her responsibility for you to handle, when you do not have the same qualifications, pay or hours. How do you, the assistant handle this?  Reference  https://www.naeyc.org/our-work/families/10-naeyc-program-standards EVELYN’S PSOT: Scenario Title BAECE- Father doesn't want son to play in Kitchen area Professional Standard Standard 7- Families “The program establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with each child’s family to foster children’s development in all settings. These relationships are sensitive to family composition, language, and culture. To support children’s optimal learning and development, programs need to establish relationships with families based on mutual trust and respect, involve families in their children’s educational growth, and encourage families to fully participate in the program” (NAEYC).   Professional Standard: Explanation The reason I choose Standard 7 – Families is because it is important for teachers and parents to build a relationship of trust and honesty. As a Professional Educator it is important to acknowledge each family’s culture, language, and belief while making them feel welcomed and respected. Once a teacher gains the parent trust any issue can be resolved with respect and professionally. Solution The first thing I would do in this case tell the parent that I respect their belief and their culture but I am not allowed to deprived a child of playing in any area. Then I would ask if they are willing to have a Parent/Teacher conference. If so I would set the conference and have parent sign the Parent/Teacher Conference request Form. If parent still not satisfy, then I would encourage parent to speak to my supervisor. At the Parent/Teacher Conference I would provide parent with resource of why children are not to be deprive for playing in a certain area or with a certain toys. I would also provide our policy and procedures. I would teach the parent that a boy playing with a doll would teach the boy how to be a great father. I would teach the parents that most chefs are male and they cook amazing. Allowing a boy play in the kitchen area would teach them to learn how to be independent, great chefs and it would build self-esteem. I would teach the parents that each classroom areas play an important role in their child development. I would also show the parents the kitchen area so they can see that in this area children dress up like police officers, fire fighters, doctors and other community services. The kitchen area is not decorated in a girly way that instead they will feel like if they are at home. The children will learn sharing, social interaction, independence, and how to use their imagination.  This solution applies to the professional standard I selected because we use an effective communication with parents while building trust, and allow parents to be involved in making positive choice for their child developmental learning. It’s about working with parents as a team.   Ethical Scenario Mrs. Garcia teaches the Infant and Toddler class. She has 8 children and shares the responsibility with her co-worker who is another Teacher in the classroom. Since the beginning of school they had a child who was constantly sneezing and having a lot of mucus coming out of her nose. Mrs. Garcia asked the child mother if the child had allergies and parent said no. The child had the same issue for a couple of weeks. Mrs. Garcia and her co-worker thought that is not normal for a child to have runny nose the way this child had. The Teachers spoke to the supervisor and they had to do a Health Alert to get to the bottom of this issue. The parent got mad and curse-out the teachers.  A month later the child had to go to the hospital because of the child had a sinus virus and it was contagious. How would you handle this and what would you do next? References NAEYC. (n.d.). The 10 NAEYC Program Standards. Ask clarifying questions, and provide your personal feedback on their ideal space designs. Include one additional idea to add to your peers’ space designs. SHARON’S PSOT: Hello class I applied for the teacher assistant teacher job and would work in the Early childhood center. I would set up my classroom with a circle time carpet area. There would a couple of child-size tables and chairs to sit at. I would also have centers set up for dramatic play, block, science, reading/listening, writing, art, manipulative, area, and a safe place. All the centers would be filled with age-appropriate toys and activities for the children to explore. I would also have a large sensory table for the children to play in. There would be posters of the alphabet and numbers on the wall all at child level and the shelf and other areas would be labeled with pictures and words. I would also have a sink for handwashing in the classroom. The centers would be set up with quiet centers together and louder centers together. My classroom would be organized and inviting with lots of storage space and cubbies for each child. Special accommodations would be that the environment would be safe and handicap accessible. I would also make sure there were toys for all types of learning for all ages. The one thing I would like to have is tablets or computers for all the children  I think it is great for learning and it is the way of the world.  KELLIE’S POST: · Include the position and environment in which you will be working in the learning center.  Preschool Assistant Teacher and the environment I will be working on is the preschool classroom and parent resource room.  · Describe the ideal environment that includes.  · The physical setup   Primarily, I will have a teacher's station and their closet to store and keep their personal belongings. At this station, they will have their classroom laptop. I will have an art area for the children with an unlimited supply of art supplies, vast area rugs for each area, children, and adult size sinks, Technology area for the children (laptop, handsets, books on CDs, desk & chair). Soundproof quiet area for the children since money is not an issue. (Like a built-in nook). Tables and chairs that are subtle for students and teachers to sit in. The affected area would have the top of the line of diverse role-playing customs and playing items (kitchenette, utensils, dishes, etc.). Small library for children, personal cubby space, creative artboard, and a chalkboard wall. Bright color walls not too bright because it could be distracting and difficult for diverse learners.  · Any special considerations and an explanation of why you have selected to set things up the way you are.  I selected to set things up this way because not everyone includes the teacher when it comes to organizing or setting up a classroom; we will be in the space, so we know what we need and the needs of the children.  · At least one out-of-the-box opportunity for creativity and innovation, and explain why you have included this.           I would include a library for parents not in the classroom in a different part of the center, such as a parent's lounge, to have conferences, and they can check out books, magazines and have pamphlets that will assist them when needed. Instead of the teachers having to go outside of the regular norm to provide additional information when required, it would already be available at the center for them   Qualitative and Quantitative Comparison Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts DAWN’S POST: Qualitative and Quantitative Comparison Quantitative research manages numbers and measurements, while subjective examination manages words and implications. Quantitative strategies permit you to test a theory by deliberately gathering and breaking down information, while qualitative method permit you to investigate thoughts and encounters top to bottom. We usually need to use statistically representative sample when conducting quantitative research (Trost, 1986). The equivalent is regularly not the situation with qualitative studies where we need an example with varieties along the independent variable. In a study about dementia patients, the research observed and focused on the quantitative data instead of focusing on interpreting the data in a qualitative method. Qualitative research techniques center around qualitative information assortment strategies to examine and notice an intended interest group and make determinations from the information gathered. This exploration strategy depends more on abstract attributes dictated by qualitative methodologies. The area of method only referred to using placebo treatment (Pomiersky et al., 2020). In a qualitative study, the area of method gave more detail about the participants. Also, the study had previously been performed trying to quantify these observations and then completed again using the qualitative methods for clarity. This study gave more supportive data for the study using grounded theory to focus and conceptualize to explain the studied empirical phenomena. The qualitative analyses of this study showed change in b line personality dis patients within the first year of treatment using transference-focused psychotherapy (Tmej et al., 2021). The detailed analysis was able to show to representations changes during transference-focused psychotherapy treatment. I find a deep relationship with the qualitative study because of the methods used to select participants and the use of treatments. The study previously did quantitative research and had not acquire all necessary to study the phenomena. The research focused on a 122 participant study when the quality of 11 participants gave more qualitative data.   References Pomiersky, R., Abel, B., Werner, C., Lacroix, A., Pfeiffer, K., Schäufele, M., & Hauer, K. By doing so, the researcher will be able to conduct research in a manner that is focused on researching the item in question. This sequence is commonly known as the scientific method. This process is initiated by asking a probing question that has not be answered yet, developing a hypothesis, organizing, and completing an experiment, synthesizing data, and drawing a conclusion (Explorable, 2010, p. 1). By following this sequence, researchers can conduct research studies that are aligned to the specific questions determined during the initial stages, deepen understanding of research concepts, and formulate additional questions for future research studies. Research studies are typically classified as either quantitative or qualitative. Although these research designs differ in many ways, they both share the capability to provide feedback to researchers as they delve into a deeper understanding regarding researching specific topics. When one juxtaposes qualitative studies to quantitative studies the differences between each research style is noticeable. For example, qualitative research studies are participant centered and concentrate on individualistic behaviors meanwhile, quantitative research studies are research centers and concentrate on elements that cannot be changed (Anderson, 2006, p. 1). More specifically, the greatest differences can be noted in the methods section. For instance, in the qualitative study that became known as “The Doll Test” researchers selected participants primarily based on age (NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, 2021, p. 1). The results of this qualitative study were presented as plausible solutions but were not intended to provide a sure explanation as to how racial segregation effects the self-esteem in African American children. On the contrary, in the quantitative study that sought to determine what instances motivate an individual to use marijuana selected participants from ages 18 to 26 and presented results in a manner that allows an individual to view statistical conclusions from the study itself (Lankenau, et al., 2018, p. 1). When comparing these types of research studies, it can be noted that the approach of a qualitative research study is centered on gaining a greater overall understanding, but the approach of a quantitative research study is intentional and deliberate. Overall, the greatest similarities and difference between quantitative and qualitative studies regarding the write ups of participants is that both present limitations and future questions. However, qualitative studies present findings in an informal manner that allows participant responses to be gathered whereas qualitative studies present participant responses in a categorized manner. In summation, I feel drawn to qualitative studies because they offer the ability for the researcher to collect data for research purposes but simultaneously doubles in its ability to allow the researcher to collect data from the participants environment and natural occurrences. Tell us why it is your favorite film. My favorite film was Lilo and Stitch. I love this film because of how it focuses on family and how the state was involved in possibly removing Lilo, separating her from her sister. This is a film that has always hit home with me because I am adopted and I was separated from my family. I lived in Hawaii and I believe the spirit of Aloha and Ohana is strong in Hawaii. The Hawaiian culture is shown well through the movie along with an underlying storyline of how Nani is taking on guardianship of her sister and trying to make ends meet. The music, storyline, and relatability from my own personal experiences help to make this movie the best for me.  0. Talk about the interconnection between the aesthetic and the technical aspects of the film. This should include at least seven of the following: Editing, Film Structure, Cinematography, Lighting, Colors, Screenwriting, Special Effects, Sound and Music. The film’s color scheme is very bright and colorful, much like the atmosphere of Hawaii itself. The music is somber and slower along with colors that are darker with blue hue’s are given when there is sadness and confusion. When Stitch runs away from Lilo, he is in the forest and is reading the story about the Little Duckling who is lost. His ability to relate to the lost duck who cannot find it’s family gives way to the dark hue and rain along with slow somber music that allows the audience to empathize with Stitch and his confusion. When the family is happy, the colors are bright and colorful. When David, Nani, Lilo and Stitch go surfing to relax, the music is happy and fast paced, the characters are smiling, and the colors are vibrant. There are multiple storylines that are happening through the movie. We find that Lilo is struggling with making relationships, Nani is struggling to maintain custody of Lilo, Child Protective Services is trying to do what is best for both of them. Then there is Stitch who is an aggressive experiment who escapes space and lands on Earth. His story develops into his need to find a family. All these storylines come together to create the main storyline of a broken family learning to repair themselves through tragedy.  In the opening scene of Lilo and Stitch there are a lot of camera angles used. Low angled shots are used to show the power of The Chancellor, while high angle shots show the inferiority of Jumba (the scientist who created stitch) who is on trial. Captain Gantu is always shown from a low angle to create a better image of his size and dominance. Long shots are shown in most of the beach scenes and community scenes. The artists used watercolor when they created these scenes to develop softer images and allow for less detail and giving the characters the forefront of the audience's attention. There is obvious effects with how the characters surf or when David does his firedance that show the creators and animators researched and immersed themselves in how the culture uses these aspects to connect with their history.  0. After this course, will you see your favorite film in a different light? Why or why not? After re-watching Lilo and Stitch, I cannot view the movie in the same light. I notice small intricacies now that I did not notice before. I also notice more detail in the script and how there are multiple storylines within the storyline, something I was never aware of but I am so pleased to be able to see now. I believe this class has helped me to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of movies.  COLLIN’S POST: My favorite film is Interstellar (2014) featuring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. This is a sci-fi/adventure movie full of twists and turns in space. This is my favorite movie because I love space films, but this film features amazing details and sounds. Christopher Nolan directs this film and I really like all of his movies and think he might be my favorite director. This film also features Hans Zimmer for music and he definitely out did himself on this film as the sound is amazing. This is one of the only films that I can watch anytime and I have seen this film more times than I can count. Looking at this films editing we can see all of the hard work they put into it. This film features multiple different techniques so I will only focus on a few. To start, we have a lot of intercutting as they need to be able to convey two characters storylines at the same time. You have Cooper who is in space trying to figure out what planet to live on and then Murph, who is trying to solve the problem of gravity on earth. Because they are so far away from each other the best way to convey their storylines is to use intercutting to jump back and forth between the two. This film also has a big time difference between earth and space. This editing technique allows them to help show how massive the time difference is. This film also features a good amount of cuts to transition between different scenes. One thing I like about this film is the multiple different locations they use. They travel to two different planets and to give viewers an idea on the locations, they use establishing shots and different pans to convey the new spots.  One thing I really like about Christopher Nolan is the way he structures his films. In this film you can get a pretty good idea of the ending from the beginning. After you see the film for the first time and rewatch it you start to pick up on the little details that help give this away. At the beginning of the film Murph has to deal with her "ghost". Her ghost constantly throws books off the book shelf and other objects. A big thing the ghost tells her is the word "stay". Later on at the end of the film you figure out who and what the ghost is and why it is important. It turns out that Cooper was her ghost and the word stay is important because he should not have left to go to space. He wants to convey the message "Don't let me leave Murph" from the future. After rewatching the film you can see all these small details and get a better understanding of the film. Christopher does this in some of his other films such as Tenet (2020). Due to a large amount of this film taking place in space it needs good lighting as a lot of the scenes are darker. I think they do a good job at helping this by using lighter colors in space like white to play off the dark backgrounds. I think lighting and color play a direct role with each other and one helps the other in this film. The spacesuits they wear in this film are all white which helps distinguish them in the darker scenes especially when Cooper goes into the blackhole. However, when they land on the two planets they are exploring the suits don't have as much as an effect. This is because the planets are lighter in color and with that the lighting causes everything to be very bright. This is shown a little better when they go to Mann's planet. Here it is a snowy ice tundra and the white matches the background of snow. This is helped a little bit by the amount of darker rocks and objects they have in the snow. One thing this film does really well is its special effects. Due to it being a futuristic sci-fi about space travel and the end of the world there is a lot of this. This films main point is that love is the only thing that can transcend time. Because of this they must find a way to communicate that between the time differences. One of my favorite scenes with special effects in this film is towards the ending when Cooper goes into a blackhole. He has to disconnect from the ship he is on with Brand without her knowing. This causes a pretty emotional scene as Cooper sacrifices himself for Brand. However, Cooper ends up going into a blackhole and the editing is really cool. He goes into this thing called a tesseract and you start to see the displacement of space and time. The sound also get a little choppy here and makes it sound really cool. When he is in the tesseract you see Murphs room but thousands of different versions of it. This is where Cooper has to find a way to communicate with her and you figure out what her ghost was. Sound played a very important role in this film, but more importantly for me was the music. Looking at sound first this film features multiple different sound effects. The big ones for me are the way they incorporate sound in space. A specific example of this is when Dr. Mann is trying to board the big ship. He does not know how to equal out the pressure and ultimately causes the ship to explode. From Cooper and Brands perspective you see a massive explosion but then it cuts to a close up of the scene in space with no sound. I think this is a great example because they show that space is different and sound might not travel as well. Looking at music in a film I think this one has some of the best. Hans Zimmer is the composer for this film and made most of the music. I think he did an excellent job at incorporating the music to fit into certain scenes to make them better. A specific example of one of my favorite uses of music is when they land on Miller's planet. The song playing when they land and throughout the time on the planet has a ticking sound in it. Something really cool about this is that each tick which represents 1 second on the planet actually represents 1 day on earth. This is a background score technique to make the scene more intense as you realize the amount of time they are spending on this planet. This is later shown again when they leave the planet and the character who stayed on the ship is many years older. After this course I definitely see the film different. Before taking this course I had a slight understanding of the amount of work that went into this film. After taking this course and understanding all the different techniques and other factors that go into film I have a higher respect for Nolan. I truly think this film is a cinematic masterpiece and it is hands down my favourite movie of all time. I think they did an excellent job at utilizing all these techniques and making the film tell an incredible story. Hans Zimmer helps by adding amazing sounds and music to important scenes that increases their intensity and audiences emotions.
