I have 3 simple discussion questions. – 1- Introduce yourself. Tell us where you’re from, career plans, what you like to do, what you don’t like to do, how much you love philosophy, major if any, where you are right now, and anything you feel like sharing. Feel free to be creative here, and it would be particularly good if you could tell us something about yourself that makes you unique. And tell us what we should call you 2- For your response to this question, you may not use the terms “interesting” and “well-rounded.” The University requires its students to take at least one philosophy course, and many take two of them. Why do you think the University has this requirement? More generally, what do you think of when you hear the word “philosophy”? Is it a positive or negative response? Why is your response what it is? What have your friends and relatives told you, if anything, about what philosophers do, study, think about, and care about? 3- Socrates tells us “the unexamined life is not worth living for human beings.” Is that true? What specific things do philosophers study? Here you should list at least two specific issues philosophers explore (for instance, you might consider what “epistemology” is, or what kinds of questions “epistemologists” ask).
