Good planning and organization

The use of good planning allows for the efficient use of resources in relation to the crime being investigated and gathering of as much available information as possible. During coordination things to be considered should include the magnitude of the issue at hand what expertise may be needed potential hazards at the scene the location of the scene and what equipment may be needed. Other considerations in good planning can also include weather conditions and managing delays at the crime scene until proper equipment arrive. I believe the most important factor in evidence acquisition in a digital investigation is physical acquisition which involves cloning the entire physical storage of a mobile device. Forensics analysts are able to use tools with customized bootloaders to bypass additional security put in place by the mobile manufacturer to prevent direct memory access. As a result forensics analysts are able to examine deleted data and unstructured data within the device. The primary goal of evidence preservation is to prevent digital evidence from being modified during each phase of handling. To be able to maintain integrity of digital evidence during investigation the chain of custody must be implemented. The chain of custody will maintain information on who collected the evidence where and how it was collected who took possession of the evidence and when. The names titles and contact information are all provided in the chain of custody of each individual that has handled the evidence during each phase of the investigation.
