Annotated Biography assignment

‘You will be using the UCF library databases to find 5 sources that should help frame the current state of research surrounding your chosen topic. Think for a moment what it means to establish a framework about your topic. If you are eventually presenting your primary research (in the weeks ahead you’re not there yet) you need to establish for your readers what the current state of research is on your topic before you present yours. Remember Stuart Green says argument is conversation. Research is not shouting your findings into an empty room. Instead it is sharing your findings with a group of like-minded enthusiasts. Instead of shouting into an empty room it is sitting on a panel at comic-con. For example if you are going to research the role of social influence on the genre of Instagram Travel Influence’s you need to find out what research is currently happening on Instagram social media influences travel and social media etc. If you don’t find a source specifically discussing travel influences then see what is currently being researched on Instagram in general. That is fine. Helpful tip- if you find ONE article that you think is superlatively relevant to your topic check their references/works cited to see if there are any sources you could use to help further your research. Then find them and use them. That isn’t cheating. It is joining the current conversation on your topic. Your task: Construct an annotated bibliography for your five sources. An annotated bibliography looks like a reference/works cited and after each entry there is a 4-6 sentence paragraph that summarizes the key arguments of the text. If you are using more than 4-6 sentences you need to revise to be more of an overview you are probably getting too specific. It also concludes with a sentence that explains how the source will be used in your research. For example: This source will establish a general understanding of what YouTube influences are. The sources should be listed following MLA/APA guidelines. It can be titled simply Annotated Bibliography. Times New Roman 12 pt font double spaced. It should not contain quotes. You should be paraphrasing. Review FITAW on page 39 in the section of Chapter 2 subheading “Reading as an Act of Composing: Annotating.” The bulleted steps will be useful as you review your source. In addition review FITAW page 65 Chapter 3 subheading “Writing a Paraphrase” to help guide you as you draft your annotation. You can view a student sample here. Be forewarned it contains some minor errors in MLA and formatting of the page (the margins went weird) but it gives a good example of how it should function. ‘
