This is a demonstration that I frequently do in class (however this is not me). If you would like a further demonstration of this topic you can access a simulation (Links to an external site.) that will allow you to see the macro and submicroscopic view of electrolytes. Play around with the tabs at the top and the options that you are given. Look at the following substances being tested. For each include the following information in your presentation. Present the information. There are lots of ways that you could do this, please choose a method that would appeal best to you or your group. This is not an exhaustive list so if you think of another way, just ask. What ever method that you choose be sure to document who is participating in the work and how. This could be a name on the slide or a summary slide at the end. Criteria for Success: This assignment is worth 50 points. See the Course Calendar for the due date. This an individual or group project. If working as a group, only one person needs to turn in the assignment, but everybody should contribute to the assignment and document their contributions. You are welcome to divide the work however you see fit. It is possible you will have several people working on one task. Predict what the result would be for Gatorade (you may have to look up the ingredients of Gatorade) Summarize the results of the demonstration. For Gatorade predict what the demonstration would show. Classify the compound as electrolyte or nonelectrolyte and explain why. If it is an electrolyte write the dissociation reaction. Draw or make a model of the compounds. Make sure to think about them on the submicroscopic scale. If they are dissolved in water (solution), think about how they interact with the water molecules.
