1- Self-Portrait Presentation Each student will create a 5-10 minute presentation that conveys the essence of their “self” through art. At least 5 works should be chosen. You will need to Step 1 – Choose an Artist First, you need to choose an artist (painter, sculptor, photographer, etc.) whose work is interesting and inspiring to you. Do not copy his/her work but use it as a starting point for your project. For example, if you choose Boticelli’s The Birth of Venus, you may use the same mythological theme in a different medium such as sculpture, mosaic, or song. Step 2 – Research The more information you know about the artist, the better you will understand the work that inspired you to create your project. Select 1 work by this artist that you particularly admire. You will be required to submit an image of this artwork at the end of the semester along with the project itself. Step 3 – Proposal EXAMPLE: Here is a pdf file containing a proposal from a previous semester that earned an “A” to help give you an idea of what is expected. downloadto view the example. Proposal: REQUIRED, you must get approval for your project or your project won’t be accepted. Requirements: see the requirements present the art (via narrated PowerPoint, narrated Prezi, or video), MAKE SURE IT IS FULLY NARRATED AND ON AUTO PLAY so the viewer doesn’t have to click on every slide. One of the easiest ways to do this is to create your PowerPoint with the embedded narration and all transitions and then export it as a video. tell us about the art (artist, when it was created, define the type of art, gives us some context about how it was created) explain how/why it represents you identify a social angle for each work AND do a thorough contextual analysis
