Counterarguments and The Catcher in the Rye

For this assignment you will be rebutting/refuting two different arguments. Second select only one of the statements listed in Part 1 (use Part 1 tab below) and use any of the approaches presented in this Refutation-Rebuttals Resources guide to refute or rebut to that statement. These formulas are simply a few different ways to disagree with an argument. You choose which one works for you; just make sure that your response is limited to only one concise paragraph follows one of the formulas discussed in this weeks lesson and provides evidence to back up your counterargument. Also make sure to clearly indicate which statement you have chosen (Ex. Part 1-A Part 2-C). Consider Part 1 practice for Part 2. Next please select a passage from Part 2 (use the Part 2 tab below) and provide the same one-paragraph refutation/rebuttal formula in your response to any of the following statements made by literary critics or scholars about The Catcher in the Rye. In your counterargument try to include evidence from the novel to support your argument. Do the best that you can. Once you have created your two different rebuttal/refutation paragraphs please respond to at least two of your peers thread posts. If you see a vulnerability of any type in his/her argument please indicate what it is present your rebuttal to that point and counter-argue if needed. Lastly provide at least one structural syntactical (grammar) or citation related suggestion on how one of your peers can improve the quality of his/her paragraphs. Again do the best that you can.
