Data protection in businesses

Assignment: ❗ PEER POST # 1 Audience When it comes to data protection businesses and private entities want to make sure that their information is secure. This would imply that someone is going to try to sell this product to those who are aware that their information is able to be tracked when they are on the internet. Businesses would also want to make sure that their information is kept secure from competition and in some cases from corporate espionage. There is a huge pool of people that would be interested in using a product that can protect this information. It is important to make sure that you can narrow down information to target a specific audience. If you are unable to a potential customer may overlook information because they don’t feel it applies to them. Demographics There are several different age categories that would be interested in using software that allows them to traverse the internet without their information becoming public. No one appreciates their personal information being sold to third party vendors without their consent. In general people between the ages of 18 to 40 are most likely to be aware of their information being sold by companies. The average income of a marketing coordinator is between $49000 and $65000 dollars annually. This might be a factor in the individual purchasing this software but would not have bearing on a company purchasing this product. However businesses are interested in protecting their networks to prevent a loss of data that may end up costing them a lot of money. According to information gathered by IBM (2021) data breaches in the United States cost an average of $3.86 billion dollars. This issue is not only isolated to the United States but affects businesses around the world. This could easily be an investment to prevent possible losses of money as well as consumer confidence in a company. While marketing coordinators are likely to be able to work almost anywhere in the world they are likely to want to be where they are going to be able to be paid well. Currently the city paying the highest salaries according to a report on Indeed.com (2021) for market coordinators is San Diego California. The education level for someone in the career of a marketing coordinator is a bachelor’s in marketing or business management. This implies that they are someone that is educated and should be familiar with computers and basic terms. When some people are part of a religion they tend to attend services at a church and have communications with multiple members. This is important to note because if one member tells others about how a company is good or bad it can have a significant impact. This is no different than the effects of “cancel culture” on social media. The power of the word of mouth in a community can drastically affect a business in an area. It is also important to know about religion because they could see the positive or negative uses for things. In the case of a program that allows for the anonymous viewing of websites on the internet this could be perceived as allowing access to inappropriate websites. It is important to make sure that one is aware of how people may perceive something or be influenced by a community that they are a part of. Age: 27 Location: San Diego CA Occupation: Marketing Coordinator Salary: $62000 Annually Education: B.S. Business Marketing Religion: Christian Psychographics Max has been working as a Marketing Coordinator at Lyft for one and a half years. He is responsible for executing local efforts to help build and scale local marketing endeavors that will increase positive visibility of the Lyft brand (Jackson 2016). Because of his job he is an active member for a variety of events in his local community. He attends his local church to also gain insight into the ideas and feelings of the local populace. This gives him better insight on how to better coordinate events for Lyft to sponsor. He can also use this to market his company’s services to assist those who have limited access to transportation. This also works to simultaneously increase the community’s positive views of the company. ❗ PEER POST # 2 I am choosing the project of “DataNanny” to focus my writing about. Because this is geared toward companies that allow their employees to “Bring Their Own Device” or BYOD to use rather than a corporation providing an additional device to the user DataNanny will require full participation of users to ensure full security and success of this product. Any user that would like to have or is mandated to have email corporate Instant Message or IM as well as their soft phone available to them on their personal device will be required to have DataNanny installed and set up by the internal IT team. This may include the CEO of the organization a receptionist back office workers and even the IT team themselves. We are going to focus on the non-technical audience this way we can tailor the message accordingly. For example because we can not assume they are aware of what a Proxy server does we need to make sure they think of this as a “fork in the road” and how it separates work and personal information. If we can bring the terminology into their daily life then we will be able to capture their attention and hopefully allow them to fully understand the new software is a good thing and that we are separating their personal information and the business information. in of employees to allow their employer to install software on their personal device(s) is one of the hardest things to have them accept they need to understand how the separation of information happens and why this is a “good thing” to install. Lets take “Christian” for example. Christian works in the accounting department where he receives about 175 e-mails on average per day. Christian typically stays late at the office to complete his work which affects his work/life balance. Christian does not want to carry around an additional mobile phone just for work email and because the company is in the Financial Industry there are numerous security regulations they must abide by one of which is not using a personal device for work. If Christian was able to receive company email on his personal mobile device this would allow him to leave work on time spend time with his family and then be able to respond to emails after his children go to bed. DataNanny is the answer to allow Christian to carry one phone and be able to receive work emails on that device. Christian like many other employees do not qualify for a company mobile device due to their position in the company. This causes a lot of people to be at the office later than they should be due to the multiple locations spanning over two time zones. If an urgent email comes in at 5:45PM ET to the claims department from someone in Denver someone must complete the ask prior to leaving the office. This causes a lot of angst and anger of the employees that are missing time with loved ones only because they do not qualify for a company provided phone. In conclusion once the workers understand the new software will allow them to leave on time and alert of an urgent email if and when it comes in then that will allow the workers to reply accordingly from the comfort of their home with out impacting or interfering with their personal data. Identify a possible piece of demographic or psychographic information (not identified in the peers post) that will help your peer build a more comprehensive picture of the audience.
