Emergence and growth of the emergency management

1.The emergence and growth of the emergency management team has grown over the years from the very first disaster that took place in 1736, the Union Fire Company. As disasters started to arise, each incident was documented so a preparedness plan was put in place for a similar future disaster. The evolution of emergency management expanded and many important leaders like Benjamin Franklin, United States Federal Government, Clarissa Harlowe Barton, Army Corps of Engineers, US Congress, and more started developing plans and Acts to deal with these emergency.

The 9/11 terrorist attacks enhance /affect the growth of emergency management by providing more safety measures to take when boarding a plane. For example; Airport checkpoint screening has been significantly tightened since 2001, and security personnel are more thoroughly trained to detect weapons or explosives. In addition to standard metal detectors, many U.S. airports now employ full-body scanning machines, in which passengers are screened with millimeter wave technology to check for potential hidden weapons or explosives on their persons.

2.Reginald and Classmates,

The emergence of emergency management has always been around from the time I was a kid. It just did not come together till the 9/11 attacks because that was when it really hit home. Before that attack if we had issues from people over seas than we would just send our military and call it done while we hear about it on the news channels. Before anyone asks I remember when we as a nation had gone to war with iraq in operation desert storm which at that time I was some where between 5 and 8 I believe but never the less. We never really thought that an attack could happen on our soil till that happen than all branches from local, state to federal came together to make emergency management happen that way it would not happen again.

The 9/11 attacks help enhance our understanding of what we need to do in to make sure that attacks like those do not happen again. But now with current times like the attack on the capital we need to plan not only for a attack from forces unknown but also from people on our own homeland. Which in return affects how things will be done over time because it seems like people are overlooking the important matters for something that should not be getting as much attention. I can openly say that in to grow from these attacks we must learn from them which is what we do from every attack.
