Given that millions of people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS and new cases are diagnosed every day how you think the healthcare system can continue to accommodate all of the current and new cases? What messages would you provide to the public regarding HIV prevention. 2. There has been an ongoing debate on the National Funding restriction on Needle/Syringe Exchange Programs over decades. Do you support or oppose the restriction? Why? 3. In the US there are HIV health disparities seen especially in Minorities Women and MSM populations. If you were able to receive funding for an initiative/prevention strategy what initiative would you implement? Why? 4. Some countries have a high rate of HIV/AIDS. The stats may be better in the United States but it’s still a major health risk. Why? How would the educational messages or strategies be similar or different given the unique culture and context in the U.S.? 5. In regards to substance use and HIV association people usually only correlate that to injection drug users. What additional substance use linkages are there to HIV? If your room-mate shared with you that when they were out partying they were “high” had way too much fun and may not have protected themselves. How would you react? How might you advise them to get an HIV test or protect themselves in the future? 6. What factors contribute to the HIV disparity in the US? How social and structural environment such as socioeconomic status and education patterns of assortative sexual-partner selection (i.e. selecting sexual partners who are of the same race/ethnicity) or incarceration contribute to the HIV disparity in the U.S.? 7. Black men who have sex with men (MSM) is most affected by HIV/AIDS. The current HIV prevention and care landscape is heavily driven by individual-level approaches that have shown effect at reducing HIV diagnoses. However such approach has yielded less than adequate results in reducing the HIV racial disparities for Black MSM. Please identify at least two approaches that have potential to reduce HIV racial disparities and explain why do you think they might be effective?
