Hume on Causation: Old Hume vs New Hume

Some possibilities within this topic include: arguing for/against an author’s take on how Hume viewed causation, assessing if either view of causation sits better with the other facets of Humean philosophy, applying Humean theories (such as natural beliefs, determinism, or free will amongst others) to gain better insights on Hume’s take on the matter. However, don’t feel pressured choosing one of these options! I just need my dissertation to make a meaningful contribution to the Old Hume vs New Hume debate.

Preference in writing style:
It would be very much preferred if you could breakdown your main argument in premise-conclusion form and then justify each premise. Conversely, if you’re attacking/supporting an author’s argument on the matter, you could also break his/her argument into argument form as well and do the same. I understand that this might be a strange request, but I ask because my supervisor (who is also marking the dissertation) has marked many of my papers and should know my rough writing style.

– *Galen Strawson: Objects and Power [this paper might prove especially useful as Strawson’s argument is pretty weak and can be attacked]

– Helen Beebee’s section in the book Debates in modern Philosophy (edited by Stewart Duncan and Antonia Lolordo)
– Alexander Bozzo – Hume on Thick and Thin Causation
– Miriam McCormick – Hume on Natural Belief and Original Principles
– Kenneth Winkler – The New Hume

I requested a paper summary in my , if it’s possible? Could I get it by Wednesday, 10/3 UTC +8? I need to update my supervisor on my dissertation, so a paper summary would be super helpful!
