I need a response to the below statement. I will attach an example. Change is inevitable. Life happens, and when it does, we as mentors need to practice flexibility to ensure a successful mentor-mentee experience. It is especially important to monitor and adjust the Individual Development plan (IDP) as needed. If not, the mentee may not get all that they could have gained from the experience. We are mentors, but we are not doctors. More importantly, we are not God. What we may have assumed our mentees needed as part of their IDP may not be what they need as the process happens.Things we may assume are weaknesses for our mentees may prove to be their strengths as the process goes along. If we fail to adjust the IDP as needed so that we can home in on our mentee’s weaknesses or areas of challenge, then we are doing a disservice to our mentees. We as mentors must be flexible by not only timing, but my mindset as well. He or she needs to be willing and able to act in pursuit of goals, to invest in learning and to take steps toward needed change (Hart, 2013). Moreover, a mentor who accommodates/adjusts the plan to best fir their mentee are mentors who typically earn the most respect and confidence from their mentees.ReferenceHart, E. W. (2013, June 19).
