Important role in the sexual acts by educating and talking to youth at a young age

There are many parents and adolescents do not talk about important sexual topics before adolescents’ become sexual active. Parents can play a important role in the sexual acts by educating and talking to youth at a young age. The timing as well as the content, of this type of conversation could be critical. As everyone may know parents are their children first teachers. When trying to counsel parents on childhood sexuality it may depend on the child’s age and where they are in the stage development. I would inform the parents first that sexuality expounds sexual intercourse. Then I will give them the knowledge of understanding that sexual development begins at birth and moves on to adult hood. ” At birth children are learning about relationships, closeness/intimacy, and how to get their needs (through crying)” (Sciaraffa & Randolph, 2011). According to Beyers & Seiffge-Krenke(2010), during toddlerhood children grapple with forming relationships, exploring self, and knowing correct terminology for body parts such as penis and vagina. Parent should start to discuss sexual information at the critical age for all developments 2 to 5 years of age; during this time this when children are collecting and learning like sponge. They are learning about their bodies and graining understanding about self exploration and independence. I would do a survey with parents to see how many understands and their understanding of childhood sexuality and what is typical and what is not. Having some background on the families will also help me out a lot. I know to most parents this may a touchy subject for younger children but I feel that they should know at a young age because someone touch them inappropriate they will know to come to their parents or someone that will protect them.
