Interpersonal communication assignment

DIRECTIONS This assignment provides an opportunity to expand your understanding of interpersonal communication by reflecting on learning from assigned readings and applying those ideas in your daily life. Goals include: increased understanding of concepts from assigned readings and application to everyday life. Answers to each question should be about 250 words. . Below each question write a well- composed clear and concise paragraph – with sufficiently described example and reference to the assigned reading/s. Refer to grading rubric on final page. Please note: responses should be from your ideas* not a paraphrase of ideas form an outside source represented as if your ideas or with referencing to that source. QUESTIONS 1. Spend a day or more paying close attention to verbal and nonverbal communication style – yours and of the people you interact with most. Considering what you observed/experienced choose one related concept learned from one of the readings from weeks 1-2 that you saw in action. Summarize from the reading to explain what you learned and then explain it in what you experienced. 2. Review “6.2: Conflict Management Style” starting on page 266 of the Interpersonal Communication reading linked in week 3. Which conflict management style best describes your tendency? Summarize from the reading to show your understanding of this style and then discuss by example from your own life. 3. Social distancing is mandated in public. How has this changed norms for nonverbal communication? Summarize or quote from the assigned reading for week 3 (on nonverbal communication) and apply to explain how current changes affect communication clarity meaning and/or connection with others. Don’t attempt to explain all changes; instead focus in on one or two concepts and examples. Submit your answers into the Moodle function for Worksheet I. You will be prompted with each question followed by a box for entering text. I suggest writing your answers and then copy-pasting them into the Moodle assignment: Worksheet 1 Interpersonal Communication. Summarize the basics of one of your answers above in one power point slide (or a one-page document saved as a .pdf). Use meaningful images design and colour and easy to read abbreviated text. Share the slide with a group as you briefly present. Your peers will evaluate your visual and spoken presentation. Submit the visual presentation portion as a .pdf document separately in the dropbox labeled with the assignment title: Visual (for presentation) of Worksheet 1 ideas.
