Jefferson’s ideas and the idea of Benjamin Franklin on matters of education

After watching the ED battle 2, I learned a lot about Jefferson’s ideas and the idea of Benjamin Franklin on matters of education. Franklin put his full confidence in the intelligence of man and his ability to overcome difficulties. Therefore franklin believed in the idea of education and economy. More so, he urged people to learn skills and how to do things by using personal knowledge. For instance, in a brand new country where its fate is determined, its success can be determined through hard work and determination. It is unfair to judge people according to their educational background. Franklin understood that people could be smart, driven, and successful without formal education. Therefore he believed in personal knowledge and hard work.

If I have to choose between the two, I will select Franklin’s ideology of education and the economy. He was for the people, especially low-class people, and he understood how the top class people sabotaged access to education by the poor. Wealthy people, by any means, we’re able to protect their advantage. They ensure that higher education is more expensive and that poor people cannot afford money to pay for college or university. Therefore Franklin believed in skills and self-employment. Smart people do not need to be employed but rather they become creative and create their own jobs. This is said since there are high possibilities that talented people and without financial means would be left out of higher education. These possibilities increase the chances of crime rates and also compromises democracy. When people are educated and employed, crime rates reduce. Franklin is a self-made man who searched for knowledge and truth on his own. He did not have monetary means to be formally educated, which is why he spreads knowledge to others since he believed in the power of knowledge. More so, Franklin was a believer in studying things that did not seem to bring instant profits. However, their yields are long term. Although he sympathized with those who did not attend college, it was clear that those who were employed were more narrowed by those paying them peanuts.
