INFOGRAPHIC ACTIVITY ON DRUGS

Due: one day before next week’s class

Grade: This project is worth 10 points.

Introduction: Choose an illegal recreational drug to research. Create an infographic that

summarizes your findings and expresses the following information:

• the name of the substance
• any alternate names for the substance
• what type of chemical it is (stimulant? depressant? hallucinogen?)
• how this drug specifically affects the nervous system
• how this drug affects other organs/ systems inside the body
• any other interesting facts that you found in your research

Be sure to include your name in the bottom corner (in small print).

Properties of an Infographic

1) It should be an eye-catching, colorful, visual representation of the
information.
2) It uses symbols, icons, images, charts, etc.
3) It has minimal text. Sometimes there may be complete sentences, but more
often there simply are bullet points or phrases. (The point is to summarize
the information.)
4) It should be only one page or slide.

Note: You can find many, many examples of infographics online.

Format and Resources:

~ You can create a freehand infographic on the computer, using Google Drawings for
example.

~ If you would prefer to start with a template, there are a number of sites which provide
free templates. Some of these sites include Adobe Spark, Canva, Piktochart, and
Visme.

~ You could create an infographic by hand and take a high-resolution photo of the
completed poster.

Submission:

~ The infographic should be submitted as a PDF file.
~ Be sure to include the name of the substance in the file name for the infographic.

~ All infographics will be displayed for the class to see.
