LGBTQ Theory Application

For this workshop you will read one short article watch one short film and watch one longer film about families that have a member or members who are LGBTQ. You will use Transfamily Theory to explain these families experiences. Please provide your responses to #1-3. See more detailed instructions below. Yes you need to respond to all three prompts below. Also after you are done please write a short 100 word listing two new things you learned in relation to families with an individual who is LGBTQ+ and how you will use this information in your professional or personal life going forward. 1. Pink Boy Watch this 15 minute film apply concepts from Transfamily Theory. To apply the theory select some of the concepts from the theory that you can see examples of in the film. For example you might note the families response to the childs gender expression. List the theoretical concept explain what that concept is and then provide the example from the film that demonstrate this concept. You should do this for multiple concepts (3-4) in the theory. 2. Erica & Scotts Story Read this short article and consider how you might apply concepts from Life Course Theory. To apply the theory select some of the concepts from the theory (eg. linked lives importance of time and place etc.) that you can see examples of in the story. List the theoretical concept explain what that concept is and then provide the example from the film that demonstrate this concept. You should do this for multiple concepts (3-4) in the theory. 3. Growing up Trans Watch this 84 minute film apply concepts from Transfamily Theory OR Family Life Course Theory to one of the children and families highlighted in the film. To apply the theory select some of the concepts from the theory that you can see examples of in the film. List the theoretical concept explain what that concept is and then provide the example from the film that demonstrate this concept. You should do this for multiple concepts (3-4) in the theory.
