REVISED PROJECT PROPOSAL 2
Revised project proposal
Summary of the Project
The shortage of housing facilities is a major menace in New York. The United States
government in conjunction with the local authorities has put up a project for construction of cheap
and affordable housing to curb the growing demand of housing in the New York. Most of New
York’s population are low income earners hence require cheap housing (Taylor, 2018). The
existing housing facilities are expensive and unaffordable to the citizens (Taylor, 2018). The state
government as well as the local authorities came up with a scheme to build cheaper houses which
projects up to six hundred accommodation units. The scheme is projected to meet the needs of the
citizens as well as have a long lasting solution to the problem of inadequate housing. The project
will be completed using a cheap cost, will be of high quality thus durability and will engage
housing experts to meet the required housing characteristics. Though New York has a problem in
housing, it does not mean that just shaggy houses should be build. The state government in
conjunction with the local authorities and some humanitarian bodies will ensure good quality
houses that follow the law’s rules on housing characteristics and procedures are built. Houses built
should be fit for human survival and health.
Deliverables of the Project
Planning of the construction project.
Construction methods to use.
Procurement of construction materials.
Planning for labor, documentation and architectural designs of the project.
Financial planning.
REVISED PROJECT PROPOSAL 3
Objectives of the Project
To build a low cost community housing system consisting of six hundred units.
To build a quality affordable housing system that is in line with human survival
characteristics to avoid spread of diseases through poor sewerage systems.
To provide adequate housing for low income earners in New York.
Key Deliverables of the Project
For an output of a project to be termed as a project’s deliverable, some criteria must be met.
The output should always be a part of the project and be agreeable to stakeholders outside and
inside the project (Lapidus & Abramov, 2018). The output should be part of the roles leading to
success and achievement of the project and a result of deliberate work. Project deliverables should
always be met in time to ensure success of the project. Some of the key project deliverables in the
housing project are engineering information, reality augmentation and a site review report.
An engineering report gives insights on the engineering problem at hand, gives an analysis
of the whole project at large and gives judgments on the conclusion of the proposed design
(Lapidus & Abramov, 2018). It also gives recommendations on the problem at hand for possible
solutions. The importance of an engineering report is for planning ahead and full understanding of
the project. In this case, an engineering project will explain the procedure of building the six
hundred accommodation units, a breakdown of the engineering work and lastly give
recommendations to aid in success of the project.
Reality augmentation in architectural projects refers to the act of placing 3D models into
the actual construction space. Reality augmentation is done using mobile devices and 3D
incorporation tools (Lapidus & Abramov, 2018). In this case, an augmented reality would

comprise of models of blocks of the 600 units placed on the existing ground. This will help in
stakeholders viewing the planned project outcome. It is naturally known to improve the morale of
the team in the project hence increasing productivity and reducing errors. This is because the team
already has a vision of the desired outcome.
A site review report provides crucial details on the projected construction site. A site
review can be conducted by the team members or stakeholders or the engineering expert hired. It is
at the project’s best interest for a site review to be conducted by the engineering expert (Lapidus &
Abramov, 2018). A site review will give the expert insights on whether the site is suitable for
construction and whether the available space is enough to hold such a number of housing units.
This helps with project delivery process.
Timeline, Tasks and Deadlines of the Project
For any project to be successful and meet its goals and targets, a timeline should be set. A
timeline gives clear time of how the project should be conducted and how much time is assigned to
each task. Construction projects are mostly known to encounter delays. Therefore, it is advisable to
have a work schedule and role division before the start of the project. The following is the work
schedule for the construction of the 600 housing structures.
Activity Start Finish

The schedule will be strictly followed to avoid losing deadlines. Throughout the project,
tasks will be evenly distributed to the team members. Duties will be divided at the start of the
project. Tasks will be divided according to professionalism. The project manager will oversee the
whole project, the estimator will estimate all costs, the architect will be responsible for envisioning
the construction, the supervisor will ensure effective communication between the site and the
offices, a procurement official will ensure purchase and supply of material to the construction site,
an engineer will be responsible for creating and executing plans in the project and the construction
workers to provide labor during the construction process.
Costs
For the project to be complete, it will require a total cost of $1, 0000,000. The breakdown
of the cost for each activity on the project is listed below.
a. Consultation fees – $50,000
REVISED PROJECT PROPOSAL 6
b. Permit and insurance acquisition – $50,000
c. Clearing and preparing the construction site – $200,000
d. Substructure – $400,000
e. Outside work – $150,000
f. Installing essential equipment such as elevators and heaters – $100,000
g. Service work and minor repairs – $50,000
With this budget at hand, it will be easier to complete the project in time and meet the
project’s targets and goals. Therefore, nit is advisable to work with this schedule and budget for
success of the project.
