Student post down below: The subject that I wish to address doing this course, is the issue of mental illness among the homeless community. The condition of homelessness is pervasive throughout many of our communities and there are many theories of why. Many people find themselves homeless for many different reasons, including drug and alcohol usage, however it has been shown that many of the homeless population according to a 2015 assessment by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 564,708 people were homeless on any given night in the United States. A minimum of 25% of which are seriously mentally ill and 45% have a mental illness.
