Assessment plan is a planned systematic review of an organization’s processes, work environment and the structure used in the operations and running the organization. The performance of an organization cannot be understood in details unless it is assessed based on all available data. In assessing Florida Re-Entry subdivision, an organization assessment strategy was developed and data collected from different sources within the organization after which is analyzed and interpreted accordingly.
Assessment strategy
Assessing Florida Re-Entry subdivision can be done by applying the system approach to assessment which focuses on the entire subdivision as an entire system. The assessment process takes place through a series of steps which have to be followed in chronological to ensure that all aspects required in making reliable decisions are made. The first step is identification of needs in the organization. This entails identifying the resources required in the three sectors or departments of the organization. For instance, there has to be identification of needs in recovery, what is required to attain effective recovery and rehabilitation of offenders as they reenter in the society. Identification of the needs forms the foundation of the assessment as the project team has to establish what areas needs attention to improve the current performance before formulation of solutions as strategies. The second step is definition of needs which involves classification of areas that play similar role to the overall performance of the organization. Florida Re-entry subdivision involves three main areas of operations: rehabilitation, recovery and treatment. After definition of the needs in the subdivision, there has to be evaluation of the scope of the needs based on the three functions as outlined in the three functions of the reentry organization.
The reason as to why the needs should be assessed based on the three main functions of the organization is to ensure all the assessment efforts are channeled towards only the activities that contribute towards success of the organization. Any another needs that does not contribute to the overall functions of the re-entry subdivision is not prioritized in the assessment as it might result into less efficiency of the organization. Every need has to be justified in ensuring that the assessment plan accounts for every activity and consideration made in the organization. After the needs are developed are justified in their contribution to the overall performance of the organization, the next step in the assessment strategy is to develop a systematic process that links all the processes of the organization. This helps in ensuring the different functions carried out by Florida Re-entry subdivision are well linked to each other towards overall attainment of the goals (Loeffler & Bovaird, 2020).
Justification of system approach
Using the system approach to assessment ensures there is validity and reliability of decisions made from the activities. This is because it evaluates all resources in the organization that are used in attaining successful reentry programs. Also, it evaluates the recovery, treatment and rehabilitation as independent subsystems at the same time as a subsystems contributing to an overall systems. This enhances harmony in the overall functioning of the organization ((Kirkham et al, 2018).
Sources of data
The assessment plan involves collecting data from all stakeholders and different secondary sources available in the organization. Among the stakeholders engaged in the activity include the facility administrators, probation and parole officers and other government officials involved in the administration of Florida Re-entry subdivision. Data will be collected through interviews with the stakeholders. Also, document analysis will be carried out to collect information from different policies and laws amended to enhance effective management of the organization.
