The Meaning of True Love

This new generation can show us what the meaning is or what has changed during these past years with love or relationships. We can see how people used to love or how they give chances to know each other over time, these days people will pretend to love you or even care for you without knowing the real you. Everybody thinks they know you just because of what you say and do on social media or what you pretend to be. The word love people use it in different ways with different meanings that when people said “I love you” they can interpret that word like it doesn’t mean anything or is the start of something new for a person.  Back in the days, when a person was meeting someone new that they like, they were careful in the way they chose their words to express how they felt. For example, we can see in Sharon old’s poem “True Love” wonders the meaning of love.

True Love means to me when you have a connection with a person and know your partner very well. When the speaker of Old’s poem says, “I quietly call you / and you come and hold my hand and I say / I cannot see beyond it. I cannot see beyond it,” (23-25) you can clearly see the couple may know each other very well. Although she feels alone and is having issues in her relationship. She knows that her partner will come in her time of need. She can’t see beyond it because maybe that is where she wants to be with her family when you have a connection with your partner you can see any little detail about that person or what they are missing. This clearly show you how that true love is about belonging to one and another and she is using the world marriage. Another thing that can show you the meaning about true love when you love someone unconditional. That line can also have a second meaning where it can be that she sees that the relationship has or will be coming to an end. She might not see going past that moment.

The connections with your significant other can teach you what they need without them telling you. “I know where you are / with my eyes closed, we are bound to each other” (9-10). This kind of connection you only experience once in a lifetime; anything after that is not the same. A strong lasting affection between two insignificant others can last for years, and every time they look at each other they just know they belong together. The most passionate thing about love is that a person doesn’t need to get close to know what they think their partner’s needs and wants are. Even though the word bound can mean many things for example obligated, glued or even secured. Relationships are not perfect, but both need to work though the issues to overcome the obstacles.
