THE RESEARCH PROJECT
How to do it?
THIS RESEARCH PROJECT HAS BEEN REVISED. YOU CAN SUBMIT OBSERVATION NOTES OR RESEARCH NOTES!

Guidelines FOR THE NOTES
You were expected to spend 8 hours observing children in natural or school settings and taking notes (4-8 pages). However, these circumstances changed.
You can use your existing notes ( infants and toddlers, preschoolers, elementary school children, or high school students). Alternatively you can submit the notes from your literature review and readings.
You were supposed to select your own natural setting (a local mall, park, playground, beach, airport, restaurant, meeting, birthday party, etc.). However, due to social distancing rules, please use only the notes that you completed earlier.
For students who don’t have observation notes: please follow a similar path and select one interesting or intriguing behavior. Instead of observing children displaying this behavior read books and articles about this behavior (e.g. books and articles on aggression or a psychology of coronavirus pandemic).
You can either download handwritten notes, or typed notes. You can easily take the pictures of your handwritten notes with you phone and download as picture attachment via Canvas. The notes will become a basis for your research project.
Your notes (observation notes or research notes) should focus exclusively on one type of behavior (aggression, classroom management, play, attachment, bullying, computer usage, friendship, peer pressure, motivation, rewards, depression, anxiety, bulimia, the child in the context, shyness, cognition, parenting styles, technology, juvenile crime, etc.).

RESEARCH ACTIVITY – SELECT ONE BEHAVIOR AMONG ONE SELECTED POPULATION (e.g. PRESCHOOLERS)
You will focus on one behavior that you observe or research. Choose something that is interested you or puzzled you or made you want to learn more about it.
Next, research this behavior in the textbook as well as two other sources, one of which must be a research journal article. Write the research notes as you go. Your notes can be in your favorite format: points, comments, summaries, reaction, etc. Please remember that your notes should serve your purpose of developing a great research paper.
You can use Psych Info from the UCF library Databases webpage to locate this article.
Other sources include reputable magazines like Psychology Today or Newsweek, a reputable website, such as one sponsored by a university or psychology organization(such as American Psychological Association or the Society for Research in Child Development.
