Traditional Research

Traditional research involves face-to-face interaction between the researcher and a participant to allow the participants’ verbal feedback and capture their emotional reaction. Therefore, research is not just limited to reading books, journals, and other written material. While information from other knowledgeable and experienced personnel about a given topic is essential, obtaining one-on-one information helps provide current and accurate data. Besides, researchers must be keen to identify the right personnel/target market to ensure they gather knowledge that can test educational theories.

Traditional research offers much more than is provided in the academic syllabus because it gives an insight into the “not so obvious” aspects of how things function in the literary world. Researchers can gather more information as well as have a better insight into possible career opportunities. Therefore, research conferences are not limited to academics. Still, they focus on the subject topic while providing a better understanding of the importance of the subject matter after completing an individual’s academics. This in mind, there is always something new to learn from traditional research as compared to reading already existing information from print sources (Mata, Latham, & Ransome, 2010).

Research is better placed when individuals of similar interests contribute to the research project. While several individuals may contribute towards a given subject, it is evident that people with similar interests are more reliable (Ridde & Mohrinda, 2009). For example, during the Corona Virus pandemic, a researcher can approach doctors from a specific hospital. However, approaching doctors who come into contact with Corona Virus patients. A general doctor will provide an overall knowledge of the subject matter, but a doctor who specializes in such patients will provide in-depth information that is more reliable.

Impact of Joining into Traditional Research Scholar Communities

Traditional research scholar communities believe in acquiring resources from a broader perspective of a specific subject. These communities look at the information that applies directly to the classroom setting and test the particular field’s proposed educational theories. While this system is advantageous, especially in progressive areas that change and develop over time, such as the medical field, it comes with both benefits and challenges.

From a personal perspective, it is advantageous to join traditional research scholar communities due to the positive exposure that accompanies the research. It is one thing to read through previous research content to obtain knowledge, but it is another thing to interact and gather current and more relevant information (Mata, Latham, & Ransome, 2010). An individual can achieve this by mingling with personnel and experts of similar interests. This aspect does not only build research proposals, but it also helps to transition better into the career field because of relevant and adequate knowledge. These communities are also up to date on current events and situations in their study area, thus leaving a positive impact.

Research scholar communities can be time-consuming and exhaustive, considering the high number of participants the researcher has to meet. Keep in mind that meeting is not enough, considering that the researcher must carry out conversations with each potential participant. In many cases, accessing the relevant participants is challenging because of several reasons. Sometimes, these people target many other researchers, making it difficult for you to talk to them. It can also be overwhelming when addressing crowds compared to sitting on a desk and completing research via print or written material (Ridde & Mohrinda, 2009).

Tradition research remains an effective way of gathering qualitative data and information for researchers. The traditional study provides relevant and up to date information for scholars in higher education institutions and individuals seeking to better their career objectives. Face-to-face interactions gather both verbal and emotional reactions to a subject matter, thus improving content quality by reducing biasness.
