Unit statement: The unit is on algebraic expressions; it incorporates simplifying and evaluating algebraic and numeric expressions. The unit will build foundation on patterns and operations of decimals, integers and fractions.
Lesson Plan
In teaching Algebraic expressions for grade 10 mathematics it will require 10 lesson units that include; real number systems, rational and irrational numbers, rounding off, estimating surds, products, factorization, simplification of fractions, summary, end of chapter exercises and practicing the chapter. The hunter’s model identifies that there are eight elements used by teachers when planning and presenting their lessons (Owen, 2015). The elements are; anticipatory set, objective and purpose, input, modeling, checking for understanding, guided practice, independent practice and closure.
