An informational drug industry website I have chosen is the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF). Within the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary website, there are links regarding certification, updates in their standard, purchase towards their USP-NF as booklet or flash drive, forums, the search bar to access any drug information, etc. USP-NF website stated that their intended purpose is to be a “combination of two compendia, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the National Formulary (NF). It contains standards for medicines, dosage forms, drug substances, excipients, biologics, compounded preparations, medical devices, dietary supplements, and other therapeutics.” (n.d.) I believe that this website is a useful resource to stay up to date with drug therapy.
This website contains information educating the clinical practice on how to store and package the medications properly. USP-NF PF’s files have various types of drugs such as inhalers, optical solutions, otic solutions, tablets, IV solutions, etc., and information on storing them to maintain their optimal performance. Additionally, USP-NF informs methods to package these medications to prevent any leakage and contamination of the product, which could cause harm to anyone in the clinical setting (A.J.H.S.P. 2018, Pg, 629).
In conclusion, this website is an incredible tool for clinical practice to stay up to date with drug therapy. It has a lot of free information to be accessed, all for free when you sign up. All the USP-NF PF’s files are extremely detailed in the analysis of medications and their chemistry.
