Introduction

A typical productivity tip for making work more manageable and accessible is to break it down into smaller tasks. The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), which is one of the most essential project management papers, is the instrument that employs this methodology for projects. It combines scope, cost, and schedule baselines on its own, ensuring that project plans are in sync. The Work Breakdown Structure is defined in the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) as a “deliverable oriented hierarchical breakdown of the work to be done by the project team.” WBS can be divided into two categories: There are two types of deliverables: Deliverable-based and phase-based. The WBS is effective as a fixture in the specified conventional project management approach as well as systems related engineering. The recognized work breakdown related structure is a sort of approach that involves breaking down an identified project into the defined hierarchy of coverable tasks, activities, and even subtasks. It is recognized as a critical instrument that is employed in the definition of any detailed form of cost or time-related estimate, as well as providing direction for specified timetable advancement and management. Essentially, the use of a work breakdown associated structure is vital in enabling an individual to pursue a top-down type of look at the identified project and in breaking it into the identified tasks as well as subtasks that will get the company to completion. It is simple but at the same time methodical (Torkanfa, & Azar, 2020).

There is no doubt about work breakdown. Estimation of projects can be considered as being highly confusing as well as somehow challenging. Nonetheless, there is the need to attain a granular. Any person has the desire to make the identified work breakdown associated structure to be highly detailed as possible. The only way to do so is to examine each and every job that has been identified, as well as to identify all of the subtasks. It is considered to be all about the elaboration of effort and in the determination of the work which need to be carried out in the most successful way to help in the completion of the given deliverable (Verzuh, 2015). 
There’s also the estimate and the format to consider. Typically, the WBS is provided in recognized flow charts that are similar to the website’s accompanying sitemaps. This style typically works well since it is related with job hierarchy and can be readily numbered. It is vital to create a WBS in the most comfortable format possible (Cerezo-Narváez et al., 2020).

Lessons Learnt

The knowledge on the WBS has taught me a variety of abilities. With the WBS, I have gained skills and understanding in managing the stated project scope. It’s possible to get requests that aren’t part of the original project scope. This is critical for increasing success and feasibility in a company’s overall operations as well as future activities. This means I have the most appropriate skills in being highly essential and effective in the management of a project in the most appropriate way (Berinato, 2016). The Work Breakdown Structure can be used for a variety of purposes. It begins as a planning tool, assisting the project team in planning, defining, and organizing scope with deliverables. The WBS is also the main source of schedule and cost estimates. However, its most significant contributions to a project are its usage as a job description and as a monitoring and control tool.
